Announcing TETRACHROMA

Announcing TETRACHROMA, a new puzzle-action game for Windows PC that combines tetromino stacking (like Tetris) with a new color changing mechanic inspired by Reversi / Othello. Check out the Steam page featuring a brand new gameplay trailer!

In the game, each tetromino appears in multiple colors. The goal is to clear lines, but to do so, every block in the line must match. When you place a tetromino, adjacent horizontal and vertical lines change colors to match. This is a small game, but I've put a lot of effort into polishing the gameplay and presentation. I think the game's unique mechanic is an intuitive but challenging twist on tetromino stacking that I hope players will enjoy. The game is the testing and polish stages and should launch this year.

Jump Mechanic's Steam Page is Live!

Jump Mechanic is coming soon to Steam! Check out the Steam page along with fresh screenshots of the game and a brand new "First Look" gameplay trailer. If you like what you see, consider adding Jump Mechanic to your Steam wishlist!

If you have been following my progress on Twitter you'll know I've been posting regular updates about the game since the announcement in April. There is still plenty of work to do, but the game is far enough along now that I think it's time to start sharing the game on Steam.

Announcing Jump Mechanic

Today I'm excited to finally announce my new game, Jump Mechanic. Jump Mechanic is a 2D action platformer for Windows PC with a focus on deep but intuitive controls and good game feel. The game features 24+ levels across 6 worlds, colorful pixel art, and a 30+ track soundtrack featuring original electronic versions of classical music.

In Jump Mechanic you help J.Me, a happy jumping robot and the star of a video game that takes place on a planet called First World. Everything is going great until J.Me's disillusioned creator cancels J.Me's game and deletes all of First World. Now J.Me is lost in a strange universe of game mechanics and has to keep jumping to survive. You can find more information about the game and on the game's information page or read more below.

Returning to Regular Updates, Social Media

It's been almost 6 years since I put my second game project Go Plague Monkey! Go! on hold to work on new projects and generally rethink my approach to solo independent game development. Not long after that I stopped posting on this blog or social media regularly partially because I didn't have an upcoming product to promote and partially because frankly social media in general had become less useful and less of a positive presence in my life.

Thankfully, social media has become a much happier, friendlier, safer place since then. Just kidding. But, I did always plan on returning to posting regular updates and sharing on social media when I was closer to releasing something, and that seems like now.

Go Plague Monkey! Go! on Hold

It's been about three years since I first started developing my second indie game project, Go Plague Monkey! Go! What was originally intended to be a small game grew into a much bigger, much more complicated project... and then it kept growing... and then I kind of burnt out. Sorry! I've decided to put the game's development on hold and work on other projects for a while. But it's not all bad news. I'm still planning to finish the game. I've also learned an enormous amount from working on it, and I'm excited to apply what I've learned. In particular, my immediate plan is to work on new game development tools that cater to my specific strengths and needs as a solo developer.
